TH418 Transport Studies
This unit looks at management within the transport
sector, particularly the carrier sector. It deals with the environmental
(particularly regulatory) context in which carriers operate. It also deals with
general principles of transportation and transport economics, strategic
planning, marketing and service delivery issues, the employment of quantitative
techniques in the carrier sector; and collaborative linkages between the
carrier sector and other sectors of the tourism industry. Particular emphasis
is placed on PNG examples and how technology has played a part in this. A trip
to the upper highlands of Papua New Guinea enables students to make an
assessment of the land transport system connecting the vast highlands region
and Momase Region of Papua New Guinea.
