Dear students,

Welcome to unit PG317: Research Methods.

This unit is offered to all Year 3 students in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Its purpose is to prepare you to design and conduct a research project within your area of study. The theoretical component introduces the philosophies and approaches of qualitative and quantitative research, while familiarizing you with the key elements of research design and research proposal development. The practical component develops essential research skills, including identifying the research problem, conducting a literature review, designing data collection instruments and preparing an application for ethical clearance. The unit consists of four hours per week. The first two hours are lecture sessions held on Tuesdays from 8-10 a.m. The remaining two hours are tutorial sessions led by your departmental supervisors.

·       Dr. Limu Cheryl Mou Vagi - Social and Religious Studies Students and Social Work. 

I, Associate Professor Sr. Miriam Dlugosz, am the unit coordinator and main lecturer. Together with your supervisors, I look forward to working with you throughout the semester.
