Dear DWU Community- Staff and Students

Notice of Madang Campus Restrictions & Restricted Hours for People Movement (Main & Modilon Campuses) from Friday 4th November to Friday 30th November, 2022.

As we approach the end of this academic year for 2022 taking into consideration the safety and security of DWU Madang Campus community members, its buildings, properties, assets and most importantly the after exam alcohol related cases by students and uncontrolled movement of people in and out of the campus the following Campus restrictions will come into effect from Friday 2nd November to Friday 30th November 2022. The restricted guidelines will cover the Madang Main Campus and Modilon. Note that the afterhours restrictions for people and vehicle movement will be mainly at the access points/gates.

Gates Opening and Closing Hours
  • YC Back Gate is to close at 6:30pm- No Entry and Exit after this time.
  • Modilon Campus Gate to close at 8:30pm- No entry and one way out only
  • Main Gate- No outside vehicles allowed in at 8:30pm. All outside vehicles should exit by 8:30pm.
  • Restricted hours for people movement on campus: 10:00pm to 5:30am
Security personnel & those attending to medical emergencies or those with prior arrangements with office of the VPMC have permission for movement during restricted hours as authorized.
General Guidelines for: people access
  • Students to show ID cards to avoid restrictions in entry during the day or night if questioned
  • Staff Members to show ID cards if not recognizable by face
  • All outsiders (non students & staff) who pass through the gate should register their names & purpose of visit.
  • NO entry by outsiders to take short cuts to YC gate. This must stop.
  • NO entry by young unaccompanied children from gavstoa, banana block or Wagol etc... into
  • the campus to wander around.
  • No entry by outsiders to collect greens like kangkong & other things or look for birds, flying
    foxes etc... unless authorized for the purpose they claim.
  • Intoxicated persons will be refused entry or referred to the PCS office on campus.
    Intoxicated students will be referred to the Student Services for appropriate action. Any
    intoxicated persons not cooperating will be referred to the police.
Bag Search
  • Bag checks will be conducted if necessary to identify contents in suspicious circumstances.
  • Students will be invited to open the bags for searching at access points.
General Guidelines for: vehicular access
All outside vehicles moving into the campus during the day and night to be recorded for purpose of visit. If visiting staff members or students- Names of these staff or students to be taken down


Outside vehicles to be directed to respective locations if here for business during the day. Use radio communication to inform guards at intersection location to ensure the respective vehicle is
proceeding in the right direction for business.


Those in vehicles who refuse to cooperate will be refused entry
No PMVs allowed through the front gates and into the campus unless necessary, just to the SS Car Park. Day and Night. Students catching PMVs will report to the Student Services Car park to be directed to their respective PMVs.

Maximum speed limit to be observed by vehicles driving in and around the campus.

Breaches of the outlined restrictions will be reported & addressed accordingly by the respective
divisions and offices.


We hope that these restrictions will help ease and reduce the security risk and concerns that we may encounter in this period.
